Essential tips for successfully planting your roses:

 

If you already had roses in the same place, change the soil to a depth of 60 cm.

Choose a sunny and ventilated area (at least 4 hours of sunshine), avoid the proximity of trees or exposure to the north.

Make a hole 50 cm deep and place an organic fertilizer (decomposed manure, or compost 2 years of minimum age ...)

Put a layer of good soil (about 10 cm) of vegetable garden, if necessary, with 1/3 of a good soil to prevent the roots from coming into direct contact with the manure.

Bare root roots: never leave them in the air if you do not plant them immediately. Leave them in their original packaging in a cool place protected from frost, wind and heat. Beyond 8 days, put them on gauge.

The day before planting soak them entirely in water: roots and branches.

Trim the roots before planting.

Place the rose bush and then fill with soil by firmly packing with the foot the soil all around the roots.

Rosettes in clods: They can be kept for several days in the fresh "frost" before planting them. Remove the plastic bag, soak the root ball for 1 to 2 hours in a bucket of water and plant the root ball by leaving the film around (biodegradable).

Roses in pots: Plant the rose bush with its root balls and water it abundantly at the plantation.

Watering: Water abundantly (8 to 10 L per rose) at the plantation.

When the soil is resurfaced, put soil above the grafting point to prevent the rosebush from drying out in the wind and freezing in winter.

The 1st year water regularly 1 x per week depending on weather.

SIZE: Do not re-twist the branches during an autumn planting. For a spring planting cut branches back from the end of March.

Winter protection: Butter your rosebushes in November with soil on 15 cm of branches to protect them from the cold.

At the beginning of March, remove the mound. Depending on your area and the type of rose bush, from late February to early April think about re-cropping your rose bushes.

DO NOT APPLY TO THE ROSE THROUGH THE 3 MONTHS FOLLOWING THE PLANTATION.
